How to Choose a Desktop Charging Station

A desktop charging station can bring charging connections closer to your laptop, phone and accessories. The useful question is not simply how many ports it has: it is whether those connections fit the devices you use together.

Start with your everyday devices

List the devices that normally charge at your desk. For each one, check its charging connector and the charging requirements in its manufacturer's documentation. A USB-C connector alone does not tell you the charging speed you will get.

Separate devices that charge overnight from devices you need to power during work. This helps you decide how many connections you actually need at the same time.

Compare total power with individual output

A station's headline wattage may describe its combined output rather than the power available from every connection. Check the individual port ratings and the power-allocation table for your intended combination of devices.

The vollair F63 offers up to 160W combined output shared across its connections. It does not provide 160W from each connection. Charging performance depends on device requirements, cable capability and which connections are active. Ask us to confirm a particular setup before purchase if the published information does not answer your question.

Retractable cables or open ports?

Built-in retractable cables reduce the number of loose charging cables you need to keep on the desk. Before choosing them, check their reach against your actual desk layout: where the station sits, where your phone rests and where the laptop's charging port is located.

Open USB-C ports give you room to use a suitable cable you already own. The F63 combines four retractable USB-C cables, extending up to 66.5 cm, with four additional USB-C ports. You do not need to use all eight connections at once.

Plan the layout before buying

  1. Choose a stable position for the charging station near a suitable wall outlet.
  2. Measure the distance to the devices you regularly charge.
  3. Leave ventilation unobstructed and follow the product instructions.
  4. Keep charging paths clear of keyboard movements, drawers and other moving parts.
  5. Check the supplied AC plug and its suitability for your country.

For keyboard enthusiasts and DIY desk builders, use a finished charging station to charge compatible devices as intended. It is not an exposed bench power supply or a product to modify.

A practical buying checklist

  • Does each device support the charging connection you plan to use?
  • Are the individual outputs and shared-power combinations documented?
  • Will the supplied cables reach without tension?
  • Is the actual AC plug suitable for your destination?
  • Are shipping costs, returns and repair arrangements clear before payment?

Is the F63 right for your desk?

The F63 is worth considering if you want built-in USB-C cables alongside additional ports in one desktop station. If you need a particular laptop charging profile or a precise multi-device combination, confirm it first rather than relying only on the total wattage.
